A video microscope as a full-fledged hardware and software complex is an independent device or, together with an optical power meter and a defect visualizer, can be included in a complex measuring system.

Taking into account the presence of a well-developed regulatory framework and clear numerical criteria for determining the controlled areas and sizes of defects, the main mode of operation of the microscope is automatic diagnostics, manual studies are carried out in a few difficult cases.

Taking into account the uniform nature of the measurements, it is advisable to use a self-adjusting control software in the microscope, the scope of which also includes a reflectometer and an optical loss meter.
