A piercing clamp is a special device that connects two parallel wires. It allows you to provide both parallel and serial connection - in the first case, using a squeeze (as it is also called), a branch is organized from the main wire, in the second, two pieces of wire are connected with a clamp, inserting them into different (mandatory!) Jacks, and on their bare ends put on protective dielectric caps.
The main area of application of these devices is the supply of power to the consumer's switchboard, for example, connecting a house or garage to the main trunk line. The body of the clamp is made of durable plastic resistant to UV radiation and other harmful environmental influences. The very place of contact is reliably protected from moisture. Relatively low cost, easy assembly and disassembly and full compliance with regulatory requirements, made this connection method almost standard. The barbaric version of the connection with the mains - "twisting" is now practically not found.
