Happy Victory Day!

13051122

The Soviet people won the war. Children who become adults early. Women who have lost their beauty and loved ones. Men who turned gray in their twenties. Old people left alone in their declining years.

The Soviet people won the war. With a terrible effort of will and muscle tension, clinging to every meter of the earth, biting into it, with a rifle against machine guns, with a Molotov cocktail against tanks, they stopped a brown avalanche in 1941, did not let it across the Volga in 1942.

The Soviet people won the war. For four years without sleep and rest, in hunger and cold they replaced those who had gone to the front at the machines and plows, at night they cried over funerals, but in the morning they returned to the factory and in the field, shook in heating boxes, lived in dugouts, lost everything and began life first.

The war was won by the Soviet people - our grandparents, fathers and mothers. Only they have the right to be called winners. They didn't give up no matter what. Happy Victory Day, winners!

Human memory is short, and there is no doubt about the imminent arrival of a new Reich. Which we, Russians and Kazakhs, Belarusians and Tatars, Ukrainians and Moldovans, will break our heads again. The only question is how many tens of millions of lives will have to be put on the altar of a new victory.

It depends on you and me, on our memory, on our ability to live according to conscience, and not with the flow, on whether we are able not to give up in the same way as the generation of the forties. Happy Victory Day, descendants!
